A School of Hope
Kathy, a 14-year-old student, is one of many young people who have found themselves in Agua Viva’s embrace. Raised by a hardworking single mother who is a nurse, she shares her home with her sister, grandparents, uncle, aunt, and cousins. The absence of her father has made life tough, but her family’s love holds them together.
In past years, Kathy attended a public school where she often felt overwhelmed by the tense environment. It was during this challenging period that a caring friend introduced her to Agua Viva. Filled with hope, Kathy asked her mother to enroll her at the end of the school year. Recognizing the educational and spiritual opportunities her daughter had, she did just that.
Kathy told us, “Agua Viva is more than just a school. It’s a place where we can be safe and grow up with God’s guidance.” She cherishes her friendships, describing her classmates as “cordial and understanding.” Kathy also admires how her peers wear their uniforms modestly due to their understanding of the importance of respect and self-worth.
Agua Viva ignited a dream within Kathy, a dream of attending a university and becoming a judge. “I want to make my mom proud,” she shared. “I want to become a judge so I can defend people and do what’s right.”
