A Transformative Staff Retreat

Several weeks ago, we held our first spiritual retreat with our entire staff. The theme of the get-together was “Draw Near to God.” We were reminded that without God in our lives, our work is in vain. Together we had the opportunity to learn about the importance of prayer and reading the Bible. Each team member enjoyed various activities during this two-day event, such as personal devotion times, fellowship, worship, teaching, games, and delicious food.

We were blessed by some team members and special guests who shared practical ways to encourage spiritual growth. Besides learning together, the retreat provided a time of renewal for everyone. “I realized that by following the instructions of a study guide we received, I could spend quality time reading my Bible alone and better understand what the text teaches,” commented one of our participants.

The retreat brought personal challenges and new goals for our team. Many shared the desire to be more intentional in their devotional time with God and to treat prayer as a time to enjoy Him, to praise Him, and to seek His will. We also strengthened the bonds of friendship among the participants, returning from the event with gratitude and renewed energy to keep serving our community.
