Camp Of Hope
This year, we had the opportunity to organize a one-day minicamp for our middle school students. Our event was filled with fun competitions, outdoor games, and moments of reflection, but our main goals were to share the gospel with our students and to encourage them to give their lives to Christ. For weeks leading up to the camp, we prayed and asked the Lord to touch the hearts of each young person who attended and eagerly waited to see what He would do.
The day ended with a bonfire, and at this event we invited students to come forward for prayer and to give their lives to Christ if they had not yet done so. After a few moments of awkward silence, one young girl stood up and asked for prayer, followed by another, and then another. One by one, students approached leaders and poured out their hearts. Some expressed pain caused by personal situations while others acknowledged their need for Christ’s forgiveness. Every staff member and guest counselor prayed with at least one student.
Without a doubt, it was a special moment that left a deep impression on everyone who was present. Many of our staff members noted how powerful it was to witness God working in the lives of so many students. It was a wonderful reminder that the Lord is moving in people’s hearts even when we don’t see it.
After the camp ended, we saw the need to continue walking alongside our students in their journey with Christ. Several parents approached us to share testimonies, mentioning the changes they’ve seen in their children and how they are now looking for a church to attend as a family. These exciting occurrences led us to develop a discipleship program, which many students have voluntarily joined. We hold small group Bible studies twice a week during recess that are guided by teachers and staff who eagerly desire to see our students grow in their faith. The Lord continues to amaze and has encouraged us to press on with the mission He has entrusted to us at Agua Viva.
