Teaching with Purpose
When Yanira first learned of the job posting for a teaching position at Agua Viva, she sensed that God might be leading her to this place. A mother of two who has experience in both the corporate and educational sectors, she has worked in several institutions, but none quite like Agua Viva. She told us, “When they asked me about my relationship with Christ and my spiritual life during the interview, my heart was touched. I knew this was the place I wanted to be.”
Yanira believes that God has called her to use her gifts to guide the next generation. At Agua Viva, she has found a place where she can respond to this calling, serving the Lord not only through presenting material in class, but also positively impacting young lives. One of the things that stands out most to Yanira is how Agua Viva cares not only for the hearts and spirits of the students, but for the staff as well. This year, she has felt incredibly blessed by the discipleship and Bible study programs offered to the staff, through which God has allowed her to grow spiritually and deepen her relationship with Him.
Two moments have stood out in her first year at Agua Viva. First, the ability to share biblical truths openly in her classroom, something she couldn’t fully do in other schools, has been a great blessing. She recalls teaching her accounting students about the commandment, “You shall not steal,” reminding them that in their profession, they will face many temptations to break this directive. She encouraged them to remember that when these enticements come, their primary calling is to obey God. The second moment that she recalls with fondness is seeing the growth in her students. What once seemed impossible—pursuing a university education—now is attainable for many of her female students, a success that fills Yanira with joy.
After a year at Agua Viva, Yanira is grateful for the opportunity not only to serve, but also to grow in her own walk with Christ. She looks forward to continuing this journey, confident that she’s exactly where God wants her to be, helping to shape the lives of her students one lesson at a time. May God allow all our teachers, present and future, to have a heart like Yanira’s—one that obeys God and is filled with love and a desire to serve and guide the next generation.
Through Agua Viva, God is nurturing deep spiritual and personal growth in each teacher and student. We ask for your continued prayers and support, knowing that together, we are fostering a community rooted in faith and service for the glory of God.
